Two years of NLP

Two years of NLP

Built from the ground up – and still building. On our second anniversary, we are opening a new chapter with a refreshed leadership structure.

Over the past two years, we have had the opportunity to work on exciting matters, collaborate with outstanding people and keep shaping what we want NLP to become.

These first two years have confirmed that there was room in the market for a boutique specialised in intellectual property, with a strong transactional and litigation component and an integrated European vision.

We are now entering a phase of consolidation, where strengthening leadership and clarifying responsibilities is essential to sustain our growth. As part of this new chapter, our governance model has been restructured and founding partner Joana Piriquito Santos has been formally appointed as managing partner. Founding partner Beatriz Lima assumes responsibility for the Compliance portfolio — covering cybersecurity and the responsible use of AI tools — as well as Social Responsibility, with a particular focus on the Direito Mental project and broader social impact initiatives. Fellow founding partner Sara Nazaré leads Technology and Legal Product Development, alongside Citizenship and Civic Participation, reflecting our investment in innovation and in developing technology‑driven legal solutions.

The new structure follows the recent integration of Cláudia Freixinho Serrano as a partner in April, who is responsible for business development in the domestic market and for participation in specialised associations and sector‑specific forums, with the objective of further consolidating NLP’s European positioning.
